Pune, October 9 (IANS). Indian batsman Prithvi Shaw and All-Rounder Jalaj Saxena will play in the Maharashtra team led by Ankit Bawne in the upcoming Ranji trophy (2025-26) season. Maharashtra’s 16 -member group was announced for the tournament which begins on October 15. Maharashtra will face Kerala in their first match in Thiruvananthapuram from October 15-18. Prithvi Shaw was previously part of the Mumbai cricket team. Due to poor shape and fitness, he lost his place in the Mumbai Ranji team last season. After this, Shaw decided to play the next Ranji season for the Maharashtra team instead of Mumbai. At the same time, the All-Rounder Jalaj Saxena was a long time part of the Kerala team. Last season, Saxena played an important role in taking Kerala after the final of the Ranji season. A few months ago, Jalaj decided to leave Kerala and play for Maharashtra. Jalaj also played for Madhya Pradesh. India International Ruturaj Gaikwad, who is regularly in the Maharashtra team and also a former captain, is part of the group. The selectors gave preference to the selectors and chose Pradeep Dadhe in place of young fast bowler Rajvardhan Hunglekar. In the last Ranji season (2024-25), Maharashtra finished fifth in Elite Group A with two wins, two draws and three losses in seven games.
