Canada announces automatic federal benefits for 5.5 million low -income citizens, making school food program permanent
Prior to the start of the holiday season in Canada, Prime Minister Mark Carney announced automatic federal benefits for 5.5 million citizens with low revenue and made the national school food program permanent. He also announced that Canadian government has started Canada’s strong pace for the holiday season and next summer in Canada. The CRA will automatically submit these individuals’ taxes to ensure that they receive government benefits for which they qualify, such as the GST/HST credit, the Canada child benefit, the Canada disability advantage, and more -including benefits that this Canadian may not be aware of. The National School Food program makes permanent to provide meals for up to 400,000 children. This program ensures that children are fed healthy meals at school and that their families with two children save $ 800 a year on groceries. By making it permanent, we will work with provinces, areas and indigenous partners to extend the program to more schools in Canada.
