The emotional moment when police in Jambi gave prisoners time to embrace their children
Jakarta – The actions of AIPDA Handoko, a member of the Secretary police, Muaro Jambi, to open the cell door so that a prisoner could embrace his child on social media. Aipda Handoko’s actions also received praise from Netizens. The viral video was uploaded by AIPDA Handoko by detiksumbags on his personal tapping account, @HNDK8787. In the video, a boy can be seen embraced and kissed by a prisoner blocked by an iron door. Furthermore, the video recording shows the child and father freely embracing while in a criminal investigative room. AIPDA Handoko said the action was performed last Tuesday (30/9). At the time, a family visited a prisoner named Muhammad Alif at the Second police station. Alif is a prisoner entrusted by the prosecutor in the case of illegal oil transport. “In the afternoon I was still in the office, just before Maghrib came a family at that time, there was a visit schedule, but that was not the visit to the time. I asked the family why they came this afternoon. They replied ‘Yes, sir, our home is far away’,” Handoko said as reported by deticumbags, Saturday (11/10/2025). Handoko explained that Alif’s wife, children and cousins came to visit at the time. They then waited for the Seknan police room. After asking Alif’s family, Handoko went to pray. When he finished praying, Handoko saw the son of the prisoner play. “After Maghrib prayers, as I sat in the room, I saw the child playing with the prisoner. I thought it was a pity for Nian, and then I asked him, I had not seen the child for two weeks,” Handoko said. Initially, Handoko just looked at the child the opportunity to play with his father, even though he was blocked by the prison door. Handoko then entered the criminal investigative room where he was on duty. Not long after, when he came out of the criminal investigative room, Handoko saw the emotional moment of his son lying in front of the cell door as he embraced his father. “I came out again and lay the child (in front of the cell door). Out of pity, I took the initiative to meet the head of SPKT, to open it and direct him to the criminal investigative room,” he said. “Yes, we see it as a shame, especially because it has gone so far, it is just an initiative based on humanity,” he continued.
