Ahmedabad, October 11 (IANS). The 11th Asian aquatic championship concluded on Saturday at the Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad. China dominated by winning gold medals in the women and men categories. The Indian women’s team, despite losing 11-18 against Hong Kong in their classification match, finished eighth and booked a place in the 2026 Asian Games. The Chinese women’s team defeated Japan 22-17 in the final. Zhang Qishuo scored 7 goals, Wang Xuan scored 4 and Li Linyun scored 3 goals. Captain Sun Yating and Yan Jing each scored 2 goals. Li Peiyang, Shi Jingjiarong, Guo Chenghong and Zhu Yajing each scored 1 goal. For Japan, Kobayashi Maho scored top with 6 goals, followed by Captain Fukuda Shoka (4), Lore Nina, Sobajima Sakura and Sanda Yumeka (2 each), while Bando Reiko scored 1 goal. China’s men’s team won the gold medal by defeating Iran 16-15 (5-4) in the sudden death after a draw in the regulation time. The match led to a penalty (5-4) to a closely disputed match. For China, Captain Chen Yimin and Chu Chenghao each scored 2 goals. Yu Lijun, Zhang Jinpeng, Wang Bei, Lu Yi, Yang Shanglin, Cai Yuhao and Zhu Gengmin each scored 1 goal. For Iran, Shams scored Arman 5, Aghai Karim Omid and Ghavidelhajiagha Amin each scored 2 goals, and Mehrikoneshahri Alireza and Adam Mersad each scored 1 goal. Kazakhstan defeated Japan 16-14 in the Men’s Bronze Medal match. Captain Rude Mikhail relieved the team’s path to victory by scoring 8 goals. Schmider Alexey and Bobrovsky Mstislav each scored 2 goals. Tsoy Eduard, Shakenov Murat, Akhmetov Ruslan and Akimbe Aldiyar each scored 1 goal. In the men’s category, Singapore defeated Thailand 14-12 to finish fifth. Hong Kong secured seventh place after defeating Uzbekistan 16-15.
