Cross Border Arms Smuggling Module Busted: Counter Intelligence Amritsar arrests three people
Amritsar, October 11 (IANS). The Punjab Police Teen Intelligence team has had a great success. In an action based on the Counter Intelligence team on an intelligence input, police have exposed a border-crossing arms smuggling module linked to Pakistan. During this action, the team arrested three accused of the Tarn Taran district. The accused were identified as Mahesh Alias Ashu Masih, Angrez Singh and Arshdeep Singh. Eight pistols and magazines were also recovered from the possession of the accused. Initial investigation revealed that the accused was constantly in contact with the Pakistan-based weapons smugglers. He brought these consignment of weapons from the Mari Cambons area from the border town of Tarn Taran to India through drone or in other ways. The Counter Intelligence team has been watching this network for a long time. After receiving intelligence, a special team held the accused and found weapons from their shelters. Police investigation also revealed that Mahesh Alias Ashu Masih and Angrez Singh were also searched in Arms Act cases, registered with Counter Intelligence (SSOC) Amritsar police station. In the earlier action, 5 pistols were also recovered. Officials believe that this network is constantly smuggling small weapons and ammunition to India from across the border, which can be used to promote criminals and terrorist activities in the state. The Counter Intelligence team is now finding out to whom the next delivery of these weapons would be given and how many more people are involved in this network. Punjab police have described this action as a great success for the security of the state. Police said we would not tolerate any illegal activities from across the border, especially not the smuggling of weapon. Punjab police are committed to demolishing such networks at every level. –Is PSK shares this story tags
