Details of the attacking services were called to HMP Wakefield in West Yorkshire on Saturday morning after Watkins was attacked with a knife. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The singer was previously stabbed in the same prison in 2023, but he managed to escape without getting life -threatening injuries. During the attack, he was allegedly taken hostage by three other prisoners before being freed by prison officials six hours later. What were the charges against Ian Watkins? In the year 2013, when Watkins was 36-year-old, he pleaded guilty to a total of 13 charges of child abuse at Cardiff Crown Court in Wales. The charges included raping a baby, touching a 1-year-old sexually, encouraging a fan to abuse her child and make child pornography. At the time of his sentencing, Judge John Royce Watkins called a ‘manipulative and dangerous sexual predator’ who abused his fame to help satisfy his ‘insatiable lust’, Pti reported. “Those who have appeared in these courts over many years see a large number of horrific cases,” Royce said during sentencing at Cardiff Crown Court. “This matter, however, breaks new land.” Watkins was the lead singer of the Welsh rock band Lostprophets, who exceeded the British maps in 2006 with the third album, Liberation Transmission. The group announced its dissolution after the arrest of Watkins.
