Jammu and Kashmir: Police seized vehicles used for 'off-road' in the Budgam bush area.
Srinagar, October 13 (IANS). Police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam said on Monday that they had seized several vehicles used for ‘off -road driving’ within the protected forest area of the district. Budgam police said a group of influencers were found on social media who violated the laws of forest conservation by entering the protected brainwood forest area and driving a vehicle, after which a fir was registered against them. Many vehicles were seized during this period. This group made the videos of their off -road driving in the Bosviral on social media. The incident came to light after videos on social media popped up and that influential people were recklessly driving in the ecologically sensitive Brainware forest, officials said. The video was sharply criticized by locals and environmentalists, after which the forest division and the district administration acted immediately. Forest officials said the area is classified as a protected area under the Jammu and Kashmir Bos Act. Here, unauthorized entrance or movement of vehicles is prohibited. The authorities took the case seriously and the vehicles were seized in the video, while a fir against those involved on charges of damage to forest property and the destruction of the habitats of wildlife was filed. Let us tell you that in the last five years it has been seen that some major traffic crimes such as off -road, stunting, reckless driving and road rage are being committed by the youth. Negligence of parents and ignorance of social norms and laws by youth are the main reasons for many road accidents found in Jammu and Kashmir. The laws for such offenses include repealing of driver’s licenses and vehicle registrations, as well as imprisonment for parents who allow minor children to drive. -—IANS NS/ABM shares this story tags
