Punjab Police Busts smuggling module linked to Canada and Pakistan
Chandigarh, October 14 (IANS). Police have had great success in the anti-drug campaign held in Punjab. Punjab police on Tuesday caused a smuggling module linked to Canada and Pakistan. Punjab’s director Gaurav Yadav said on Tuesday that the rural police in Amritsar brought an illegal module for the smuggling of ceasefire linked to Canada and Pakistan. Amarbir Singh, resident of Dairywal of the Tarsikka police station in Amritsar, was arrested. Six pistols, 11 magazines, 91 Cartridges of 0.30 drill and 20 cartridges of 9 mm were recovered from Amarbir. The DGP said the preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had recently returned from Canada and was in contact with the smugglers in Pakistan. A FIR is registered and further investigation is underway to identify other operatives, expose back and forth and remove the entire border -boundary smuggling network. The State Special Operational Cell (SSOC) Amritsar, in a joint operation with the Border Safety Force (BSF) based on an intelligence inputs a day earlier, has a consignment of three weapons, including two AK-47 rifles, near the India pack border in the Khemkaran area of Tarn Tarn Tarn. DGP Yadav said preliminary investigation revealed that the weapons had been brought out of Pakistan. He said further investigation is underway to identify the smugglers, trace links in the case and take the smuggling network apart. The Assistant Inspector -General Sukhminder Singh Mann said the BSF received information about a consignment of terrorist hardware from across the border. Police acted quickly and launched a coordinated search operation in Mehdipur village and a cache of weapons was recovered from the area. He further said that further investigation was being conducted to detect and arrest the accused involved in this crime. –Is Ash/PSK shares this story Tags
