Minister of the Environment: 22 radioactive contaminated points in Cikande completely decontaminated

Bogor – Minister of Environment (LH) Hanif Faisol Nurofik stated that 22 facilities contaminated with radioactive Cesium-137 (Cs-137) in Cikande, Serang, Banten have completed decontamination. Hanif said the 22 facilities are safe. “Today for Cikande, 22 contaminated facilities have been declared clean. So the stages are clear, for these facilities they must be completed today,” Hanif said when met after inspecting the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) in Bogor City, Friday (17/10/2025). He emphasized that the legal process will continue. “It’s all done, maybe I’ll hold a meeting in Cikande on Saturday or Sunday to explain it. But today all seals related to radio nuclear have been fully declared and revoked,” Hanif said. “The decontamination of the 22 has been completed, except for several companies that have legal cases from the (Ministry of) Environment, it is still ongoing. But the radiation position has been completed today,” he added. 9 Workers exposed to radioactivity Previously, nine workers in Cikande Banten were exposed to the radionuclide Cs-137, based on the results of the whole body count health test by the Ministry of Health. The latest condition of these workers was revealed by the Ministry of Health. The case of radioactive substance Cesium-137 contamination is still being investigated. The Ministry of Environment (KLH) said that a number of points in Cikande, Serang, Banten were contaminated with the radioactive substance cesium-137 which was spread through industrial areas and residential areas. KLH has acknowledged that it is focused on decontaminating exposure to radioactive substances. Joint officers from the National Police Mobile Brigade, KLH, the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (Bapeten), and the local Health Service are trying to deal with exposure to radioactive substances. “The government wants to solve the Cesium-137 case from all sides as quickly as possible. From decontamination, we will carry out direct decontamination at the 10 identified points within a maximum of 1 month.
