Mahadalit, Muslim, Yadav, Backward and Dalit voters predominated. Candidates are also making tireless efforts to create caste mobilization. This seat came into being in the year 1957 and so far 16 assembly elections have been held here. In 2015, JDU contested the elections by joining the grand alliance. In 2015, there were a total of 283545 voters in Raniganj assembly constituency. Janata Dal (United) candidate Achmit Rishidev won from this seat and became MLA. He got a total of 77717 votes. Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Ramji Das Rishidev was second with 62787 votes. He lost by 14930 votes. On the contrary, when the 2020 assembly elections were contested by joining the JDU-NDA alliance, JDU candidate Achmit Rishidev retained the seat by defeating RJD’s Avinash Mangalam by a narrow margin of 2,304 votes. In 2020, Janata Dal (United) candidate Achmit Rishidev won from this seat and became MLA. He got a total of 81901 votes. RJD candidate Avinash Mangalam was second with a total of 79597 votes. It is clear from this that there will be a face to face contest between RJD and JDU candidates in Raniganj assembly. It would be meaningless to guarantee the victory of any person. If the MY equation is successful, then the victory of the RJD candidate, if there is disintegration and unity of SAC, ST, OBC and Gold, then the victory of NDA is considered certain. Raniganj is an entirely rural area with a large number of scheduled castes. There is also a serious lack of education here. There are 3,41,487 registered voters in this assembly. In which about 80 thousand are scheduled caste, 18 thousand scheduled tribe and about one lakh Muslims and 40 thousand Yadavs, 45 voters are from backward castes besides Golden and other castes. The mobilization of those left behind was also decisive here. The voting percentage in 2020 was 55.35%, slightly lower than 56.98% in 2015. About 60 thousand male voters migrate to other states in search of work every year. Geographical Perspective: The area of Raniganj is flat and low. It falls in the Terai region of North Bihar and is often prone to waterlogging and floods during monsoon. Kosi and Mahananda rivers flow near this region. These rivers are a boon for agriculture but also increase the problem of floods. The crops here include paddy, maize and jute etc. There is no large industrial establishment in the area. As a result, migration continues unabated here.
