Medical waste dumped near Walantaka TPU, Serang City, police investigate
Jakarta – Serang City Police are currently investigating the discovery of the dumping of medical waste near the Graha Walantaka Public Cemetery (TPU), Serang City. This location is also close to community settlements. Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for the Serang City Police, Commissioner Alfano Ramadhan, said that the police visited the place where the medical waste is dumped. Apart from that, the police coordinated with the Serang City Environmental Service and investigated several witnesses. “The Serang City Police is currently conducting an investigation, handled by the Tipiter unit. The police are moving quickly to carry out the status quo for the investigation of the crime scene,” said Alfano, Friday (17/10/2025). Scroll TO CONTINUE CONTENT From the photos received, it can be seen that medical waste has accumulated and some are in bags. Some of the debris appeared to be burned and charred. Debris found at the scene included used IV drips and filter-like tubing. Serang City police officers were seen at the scene. Moreover, the area has been sterilized with police lines. “We recorded and interviewed witnesses, and then took samples of waste evidence,” Alfano said. Alfano emphasized that medical waste is included in the B3 category (hazardous and toxic materials). According to regulations, B3 waste producers are expected to manage their waste safely and responsibly, from storage, transport to destruction.
