Rasuna Said's new face without monorail poles prepared
Jakarta – The monorail poles around Jalan Rasuna Said, Kuningan, South Jakarta will be demolished. The new face of the Rasuna Said area is also being prepared. Based on that, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung consulted the Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) and received a number of instructions. Pramono plans to dismantle the stopped monorail poles on Tuesday (14/10/2025) at Taman Ismail Marzuki, Central Jakarta. Pramono revealed that the target for cleaning monorail poles will start in January 2026. Scroll TO GO WITH CONTENTS “Basically, I’m praying that we’ll start cleaning next January,” Pramono said. Pramono said that solving the monorail pole problem is one of the priorities. He also asked for prayers so that the completion of the monorail pole can be carried out immediately. “Please just pray, hopefully I can finish it soon,” he said. Pramono Consults with KPK Pramono Anung also went to KPK for consultation. One of those consulted was about plans to demolish the Jakarta monorail pole. Pramono visited the KPK on Thursday (16/10). Pramono met with KPK leaders including Setyo Budiyanto, Fitroh Rohcahyanto and Agus Joko Pramono. “The first few things are related to the Jakarta government’s desire to immediately clear or solve the monorail problem along Jalan Rasuna Said,” Pramono said at the KPK building, Kuningan, South Jakarta. KPK’s direction to Pramono Pramono revealed that the KPK has given directions that the process of dismantling monorail poles can be carried out as long as there is no ongoing legal process. Pramono admitted that he also received a letter from the head of the High Prosecutor’s Office (Kajati) about the demolition plan. “We have received directions for when the legal issues have been resolved, and we have also received a letter from Kajati,” he said. The Jakarta provincial government, Pramono said, has promised to demolish abandoned monorail poles in Jakarta. He said the sprawling monorail was an eyesore and caused frequent accidents. Pramono admitted that he received the green light from the DKI Jakarta High Prosecutor’s Office and the Corruption Eradication Committee to dismantle the monorail poles stuck on Jalan Rasuna Said and Jalan Asia Afrika. Demolition begins early next year. “Thank God, we received legal advice on the monorail,” Pramono said Thursday (16/10) at the opening ceremony of the Jakarta Architecture Festival at Blok M Hub, South Jakarta. Pramono admitted that he was ‘annoyed’ to see the project pillars stuck. He said the monorail was not completed for almost 21 years. “So there are two things that I really want to have properly designed from the beginning. The first is related to the monorail in Rasuna Said which has not been completed for almost 21 years,” said Pramono. “Honestly, I’m confused, what’s the problem, I really want to finish it,” he continued. Next year’s plans The improvements are planned to start in January 2026. Not only the monorail, improvements will also be carried out along Jalan HR Rasuna Said. “I want the place to be made beautiful, so there should also be architectural touches. Because if it is made beautiful, it will be neat, then the monorail posts will be cleaned,” said Pram. Apart from that, the pedestrian will be repaired later. He wants Rasuna Said to be a place no less than Sudirman-Thamrin. “The road has been widened, the pedestrians have been restored, I am sure that Jalan Rasuna Said will become a new place that is no less than Sudirman-Thamrin and at the same time overcome the traffic jam that has existed in Rasuna Said so far,” he said.
