Djakarta – Actor and drug convict Ammar Zoni has been transferred to Nusakambangan Island, Cilacap, Central Java after he was caught selling drugs at the Salemba Detention Center, Central Jakarta. Ammar accused his client’s transfer to Nusakambangan of being excessive. “This is what I saw, in our opinion it was too excessive,” said Ammar Zoni’s lawyer, Jon Mathias, when asked on Saturday (18/10/2025). He admitted that many Ammar Zoni fans contacted him because of his transfer to Nusakambangan. He viewed Ammar’s transfer as a drug cartel. He believes that Ammar’s transfer to Nusakambangan must wait for the trial of the case. If the trial asks to find Ammar guilty, transfer can be carried out. “This means that the principle of presumption of innocence means that it must first be respected. If it is proven during the trial that Ammar did it legally and convincingly by the judge, then he will be sent to Nusakambangan because it is proven that he committed the alleged act,” he said. Previously, Ammar Zoni was caught distributing methamphetamine and synthetic tobacco from inside the Salemba Detention Center, Central Jakarta. These actions were discovered when prison officials became suspicious of Ammar Zoni’s movements. In his actions, the former soap actor was not alone. Ammar Zoni is suspected of distributing drugs in the Salemba Detention Center together with five other people, namely A, AP, AM Alias KA, ACM and MR. From the results of the investigation, it was revealed that Ammar Zoni and his colleagues used the Zangi application to communicate in the execution of drug dealing in the detention center. Ammar Zoni is suspected of getting the illegal goods from someone outside the Class I Detention Center in Central Jakarta, Salemba. Ammar Zoni is suspected of being involved in a drug case where he is serving a prison sentence in connection with a similar case. It is known that Ammar Zoni is currently serving 4 years in prison for a drug case after the prosecutor filed an appeal. Currently, Ammar Zoni has also been transferred to Nusakambangan Prison.
