Jakarta Walking Tour 2025 introduces tourism potential to the young generation

Jakarta – The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government through the Department of Tourism and Creative Economy is holding the Jakarta Walking Tour Festival 2025 which will take place from October 13 to November 8, 2025. Participants include high school/vocational school students, university students, communities, tourism associations, the media, as well as Abang None Jakarta. Head of the DKI Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Service, Andhika Permata, explained that the Jakarta Walking Tour 2025 aims to open the minds of the public and the younger generation to the tourism potential in Jakarta. “The Jakarta Walking Tour Festival is a platform for the public to explore and understand more deeply the history, culture and dynamics of Jakarta’s people’s lives. We want to promote a sense of pride and ownership of this city, as well as encourage an innovative spirit to promote sustainable tourism,” Andhika said in a written statement on Saturday (18/10/2025). This activity is one of the concrete steps of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in the development of experiential tourism that is educational, interactive and sustainable. In this activity, participants are invited to see Jakarta not only as a large modern city, but also as a place with a long historical heritage, cultural diversity and marine tourism potential. The Jakarta Walking Tour Festival 2025 consists of three main series of activities, namely, Mainland Tour, Island Tour and Outbound which offer unique tourist experiences in various areas of Jakarta. 1. Mainland Walking Tour This activity is held in five administrative areas of Jakarta: Central Jakarta, South Jakarta, East Jakarta, West Jakarta and North Jakarta. Participants will explore historic and iconic places such as Jatinegara, Cikini, Sunda Kelapa, Pasar Baru, Melawai, Kota Tua and Chinatown Glodok, while enjoying a variety of colonial architecture and social interactions in the urban environment. Through this activity, participants will gain knowledge from time to time about the history of Jakarta as well as the cultural values ​​that characterize the city. 2. Island Tour (Thousand Islands) This activity is carried out in the Thousand Islands, which is one of the best tourist destinations in Jakarta. Participants will visit Onrust Island and Untung Jawa Island to study the historical and cultural sites of coastal communities. Apart from that, participants will also stay for 2 days 1 night on three selected islands: Sepa Island, Macan Island and Asha Resort. During the activity, participants can enjoy the beauty of the sea, ecotourism activities, educational tourism, as well as learn local wisdom and efforts to preserve the coastal environment. 3. Outbound As part of the festival, outbound activities will be held at Ecopark Ancol with a total of 1,000 participants. This activity aims to build a spirit of togetherness, teamwork and environmental awareness among participants. This series of outgoing activities is designed to be educational and recreational through various interactive games. Through the Jakarta Walking Tour Festival 2025, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government hopes to increase public understanding of the history, culture and potential of Jakarta’s marine and urban tourism, promote a sense of pride in local identity and cultural heritage, and encourage the younger generation to actively contribute to tourism promotion through social media and community platforms. “We are trying to make Jakarta a tourist destination not only to visit but also to feel and understand.
