According to Telangana police, 86 Maoists surrendered in Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Saturday.
Bhadradri Kothagudem district is adjacent to Maoism affected Bastar of Chhattisgarh. Telangana police say that most of the Maoists who surrender are from Chhattisgarh.
This surrender took place at a time when the country’s Home Minister Amit Shah is on a visit to Dantewada.
According to Telangana police, 86 Maoists surrendered in front of Multi Zone-1 Police Inspector General of Police (IG) Chandrashekhar Reddy in Bhadradri Kothagudem district.
IG Chandrashekhar Reddy claimed that 66 men and 20 female Maoists are mostly from Bijapur and Sukma districts of Chhattisgarh.
He said that these Maoists have surrendered by being impressed by the Operation Cheyutha being run by the Telangana government.
A check of 25-25 thousand rupees has been given by the government as immediate assistance to those who surrender.
IG said that in the last three months this year, at least 224 Maoists have surrendered.

Shah again repeated the resolve to eliminate Maoism
Here on Saturday, Home Minister Amit Shah in Dantewada reiterated his resolve to completely eliminate Maoism from the country by 31 March 2026.
Shah said, “I have just come here with the blessings of my mother Danteshwari that in the next Chaitra Navratri, red terror will end from here and our Bastar will be happy again.”
Addressing a gathering, the Home Minister said that by surrendering the Naxalites, make the villages Naxal -free. Every village who does so will get one crore rupees.
He said that no one wants to kill anyone, surrender the Naxalites. The Government of India and the Government of Chhattisgarh will give protection.
Earlier, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai said, “We have been in government for 15 months. We have a double engine government. Under the guidance of the Home Minister, the security forces personnel are fighting the Naxalites. When the Naxalites are over, the people of the country and the world will come here.”
Vishnudev Sai said that wherever the security camps are open, where the sound of bullets used to come, now the sound of school bells is coming.
