Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that India no longer remains silent after terrorist attacks, but retaliates through surgical and airstrikes. Addressing the NDTV World Summit here, he said there are many hurdles and speed breakers, but India remains “invincible”. He said, “India no longer remains silent after terror attacks but gives a befitting reply through airstrikes, surgical strikes and Operation Sindoor.” PM Modi said, “When wars became global news, India proved its detractors wrong by emerging as the fastest growing economy.” Noting that India is in no mood to quit, he said that today the world is facing various obstacles and speed breakers, in such a situation it is natural to talk about invincible India. PM Modi said, “We will not stop or slow down. 140 crore Indians will move forward together at full speed.” He said, “Today, India has moved from one of the weak five economies to one of the top five economies of the world… From chips to ships, India is self-reliant and confident in every sector.” In Operation Sindoor, the Indian Army attacked terrorist hideouts in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) and Pakistan’s Punjab province. This action was to destroy the structure of terrorist organizations like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Hizbul Mujahideen. Indian Air Force, Navy and Army jointly conducted Operation Sindoor, in which many terrorist hideouts were destroyed with accurate missiles and more than 100 terrorists were killed. This operation was a response to a terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 people were killed. This attack reflects India’s policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism. This statement by Prime Minister Modi came at a time of tension between India and Pakistan, reflecting the change in India’s defense policy, in which active action now takes priority over defensive posture. Prime Minister Modi said in ‘NDTV World Summit 2025’ that ‘Operation Sindoor’ is like the 2016 surgical strikes and 2019 Balakot airstrikes, which were carried out on terrorist targets in response to the Uri and Pulwama attacks. He described it as part of a new India of confidence and determination, giving priority to national security and promoting regional stability. Global issues were discussed at the summit, where Prime Minister Modi underlined India’s strong leadership style. He emphasized on India’s economic strength despite global crises. He said: “After Covid, there were reports of war and conflict in the world, but India continued to move forward. India’s average economic growth rate in the last three years was 7.8%.” Referring to the 7 percent growth figures of merchandise exports announced two days ago, he said that despite the global recession, India’s progress is strong. This economic strength helps India face security challenges and sustain development. About the Author Rakesh Ranjan Kumar Rakesh Ranjan Kumar has over 10 years of experience in digital journalism.
