In his ruling, the judge said all the accused were bent on satisfying their lust while disregarding the victim’s right to life and dignity. Justice Neeti Suri Mishra, who was hearing a nearly 10-year-old rape case, delivered her verdict last Friday. The judge sentenced all three accused of the rape of a minor. Convict Dinesh alias Monu (resident of Dabodha village in Jhajjar district of Haryana) was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment under Section 4 of the POCSO Act, three years each under Sections 365 and 511 of the Indian Penal Code for kidnapping and attempt to commit crime (IPC) and six months of the Indian Penal Code 306 and 306 months for threats to kill. Convict Satyaprakash alias Kalu (resident of Lahli village, Rohtak district, Haryana) was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment under section 376 (2) of IPC. The third convict Vinod alias Amit (resident of Bhambhewa village in Jhajjar district of Haryana) was sentenced to three years imprisonment each under Section 12 of the POCSO Act, kidnapping, attempt to commit crime and murder. The convict will have to serve six months imprisonment in terms of the assault section. All sentences will be served concurrently. Additional public prosecutor Yogita Kaushik Dahiya, while seeking maximum punishment for the accused from the court, argued that the victim was a class VIII student and was around 15 years old at the time of the crime. The accused repeatedly called her, forced her to meet and threatened her. The pressure was so great that she became afraid and was forced to go and meet him. The victim saved her life by jumping out of the moving vehicle. The victim filed a police complaint on January 29, 2015. In her statement, she told that on December 31, 2013, she hired a car from accused Satya Prakash alias Kalu and went to Nagarkot (Himachal Pradesh) with her family. At that time he got Kalu’s mobile phone number from his car and called him later. After this, accused Kalu and Dinesh alias Monu called her repeatedly and she also met them. The first time she went to meet accused Satya Prakash alias Kalu, he took her behind his school. He had physical relations with her in the car and then dropped her near her home. A few days later, Monu called her and molested her and performed indecent acts. According to the victim, Vinod alias Amit spoke to her through Monu. On January 29, 2015, he repeatedly called and threatened to kill her father. Monu and Amit took him in the car. Monu pressured her to be friends with Vinod alias Amit, when she refused, Amit strangled her. Amit asked Monu to take the car to the forest. After this, she jumped out of the moving car, injuring her hand. He came home and told his father. Then the police were called and an FIR was lodged.
