SiCepat is poised to become the anchor consolidator of the national postal and courier industry
Jakarta – PT Sicepat Ekspres Indonesia has declared its readiness to become the anchor and consolidator of the national postal and courier industry. This readiness is carried out in the context of the implementation of the consolidation of the national postal industry in accordance with the Minister of Communications and Digital Regulation Number 8 of 2025 to create a more effective and efficient national postal and courier industry. Meanwhile, SiCepat will network, provide infrastructure and collaborate to accommodate the needs of postal operator activities. This includes, pick up, receive, dispatch transportation processing, delivery, brand cooperation for sales to technology. “The consolidation of the national postal and courier industry is very crucial for the national postal, courier and logistics industry. SiCepat as a technology-based logistics company encourages seamless integration between postal operators. Therefore, standardization of delivery codes which includes the development of postal codes and 3-letter codes is also very important to facilitate the Director of External Connections of Si APIC,” said. This document was submitted to the Director of Posts and Broadcasting, Directorate General of Digital Ecosystems, Gunawan Hutagalung at the Margo Hotel Depok, West Java on Friday (17/10). This consolidation of the postal and courier industries has also been supported by regulations encouraging interconnection between postal operators. This rule is contained in Commercial Post Regulation Number 8 of 2025 issued by the Ministry of Communications and Digital (Komdigi) in May 2025. Meanwhile, Gunawan appreciated SiCepat’s steps in implementing Komdigi policies. According to him, initiatives of industry players such as SiCepat are the government’s success in encouraging the efficiency of the national logistics system. “We appreciate SiCepat’s response in following up on the deregulation of the courier sector and hope to be at the forefront of its technical implementation, including readiness to implement technology-based logistics interconnection seams, including the use of 3-letter codes and postal codes to increase the accuracy of delivery destinations,” he concluded. As is known, the national postal and courier industry is one of the crucial industries to support the growth of the national digital economy. Currently, there are more than 700 postal operators spread across Indonesia, with an industrial economic potential of more than IDR 100 trillion per year. This industry also employs millions of jobs in Indonesia. As an archipelagic country, Indonesia presents challenges to the national postal and courier industry, from the availability of delivery networks to remote areas of the country. Then the delivery time is still relatively long, especially in the 3T (Frontier, Outermost, Disadvantaged) areas. Then the tracking and tracing system has not been fully implemented by all role players and the capacity utilization of postal operators is not yet optimal. (acn/ega)
