Man in Tangerang slips on overpass and falls into Angke River
Tangerang City – A man named Adi (30) fell into Angke River, Cipondoh, Tangerang City, Banten. The victim previously slipped and fell while walking on the Green Lake Pondok Bahar overpass. Jakarta SAR Office Rescue personnel together with joint SAR elements are still engaged in searches for victims. Adi fell into the Angke River in Cipetir Village, Cipondoh District this morning at around 03.49 WIB. “We have deployed personnel from the Jakarta SAR Office together with joint SAR elements to move to the incident location with full water SAR equipment to search for victims,” said Jakarta SAR Office Head Desiana Kartika Bahari on Monday (10/20/2025). SCROLL TO CONTINUE CONTENT Desiana explained as the SAR Mission Coordinator (SMC) in the SAR operation that the victim’s friend who was at the scene of the incident was conducting a search. However, the victim was not found until the victim’s colleague finally reported the incident to the officers. Search efforts were carried out by combing the river with a rubber boat and an underwater detector (aqua eye), as well as disassembling piles of rubbish around the place of the incident. Apart from that, the team also conducted ground searches along the river bank for about 1 km from the initial point where the victim fell. A number of personnel from various joint SAR elements were also involved in the search, including the Jakarta SAR Office, Batu Ceper Fire Department, Yatim Mandiri, RMI and Ciledug Damkar. (jbr/dhn)
