Diwali 2025: Devbhoomi lit up on Diwali, Maa Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha worshiped with rituals - deoria diwali celebrations city lights up with festive cheer
Jagran Correspondent, Deoria. The festival of Diwali was celebrated with full enthusiasm and pomp. People from city to village enjoyed the light festival on Monday. The process of bursting coconuts, lighting sparklers and celebrating with the family continued. As soon as the evening came, chandeliers and lamps were burning in every house. Amidst the noise of firecrackers, the entire city and village glowed with milky and colorful lights. Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha were worshiped with rituals in homes, and Prasad was distributed. In the evening the lamp was washed and the idols of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha were placed and ritually worshipped. People continued to worship in their homes and shops until late at night. The process of congratulating each other on Diwali continued by visiting each other’s homes and by phone. There was a crowd of people congratulating District Magistrate Divya Mittal and SP Sanjeev Suman. People also wished each other Happy Diwali on Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp. On the occasion of Diwali, the work of washing, cleaning and repainting the houses in the city was going on from the morning. Bedding, covers and curtains were changed, while new accessories were brought out for the guests. The pleasant smell of gramme laddus and namkeen continuously came from the houses. Artificial flowers of different colors and designs, idols of Lakshmi and Ganesha, puja items, lamps and candles decorated the houses. Women and men in Indian attire were seen lighting sparklers after performing puja together. Diwali was celebrated in the city’s Civil Lines Road, Malviya Road, Sabzi Mandi, Raghav Nagar, New Colony, Bhatwalia Square, Deoria Ramnath and Sindhi Mill Colony. On Diwali festival, there was a crowd of people shopping in the market from morning to afternoon. There were traffic jams on Motilal Road, Jalkal Road and Sabzi Mandi Road throughout the day. Apart from vegetable and sweet shops, crowd was also seen at puja material shops. Marigold flower garlands were sold in the flower market, selling for 50 to 60 rupees. Apart from this, rose flowers and bouquets were also sold. People arrived with bouquets to congratulate the officials and public representatives. Police remained vigilant on security during Diwali festival. The police were still deployed at major intersections of the city, so that no untoward incident took place. Additional SP Sunil Kumar Singh, CO Sanjay Kumar Reddy and Inspector-in-charge Vinod Kumar Singh and other policemen remained with security.
