3 Districts in Sukabumi Regency hit by floods and landslides after heavy rains
Jakarta – Heavy rains that fell on a number of areas in Sukabumi Regency from Tuesday afternoon to evening resulted in three sub-districts being hit by floods and landslides. This disaster resulted in tens of residents’ homes being affected and tens of residents being displaced. He said there were no casualties in the incident, but a family consisting of 2 people had to temporarily evacuate. “Soil material from the cliff behind the house suddenly collapsed and immediately hit the back of Mrs. Itoh’s house. Fortunately, when the incident happened, the residents of the house managed to save themselves,” Andri said. Floods and landslides in Jampangtengah Floods and landslides also hit the Jampangtengah district, especially in Cijulang and Bojongtipar towns. Water as high as an adult’s knee flooded eight houses and one mosque in Kampung Cijulang RT 07/03, RT 08/03 and RT 09/03. Jampangtengah P2BK officer, Dadi Supardi, said there were no casualties, but five family heads (11 people) were forced to evacuate temporarily. Chest-high flooding and roads closed in Purabaya In the Purabaya district, floods and landslides occurred almost simultaneously around 18:00 WIB. The P2BK Purabaya report noted that flooding hit two main locations, namely Kampung Muara RT 08/06 and Kampung Lembur Tengah RT 03/02/01 RW 01, both in Purabaya Village. The landslide also closed part of the provincial road in Ketengan Village and damaged the retaining wall (TPT) at Cisarua Elementary School. “From 16.00 to 21.00 WIB, heavy rain fell on the Purabaya area and its surroundings. The high water discharge meant that the overflow of the Cibening River could not be accommodated and caused seasonal flooding,” said a written report from P2BK Purabaya Yanto Prayitno. At least one village was flooded with the water level reaching an adult’s chest.
