3 hours of rain in Rajsamand, roads turned into rivers, Scooty bike washed away in strong flow of water

Nathdwara town in Rajasthan’s Rajsamand district received heavy rain last night, throwing normal life out of gear. The downpour that started late in the evening and continued for three hours turned the roads of Nathdwara into rivers. The water flow was so strong that many two-wheelers (scooters and bicycles) were swept away, while water entered shops, causing huge financial losses to traders. Submerged in 3 feet of water, Nathdwara, one of the capitals of Rajsamand district, was completely submerged at 8 pm due to heavy rain that continued for three hours. The roads of Mandir Marg, Sukhdiya Nagar and the main market were filled with up to three feet of water. The water flow was so strong that even walking on the roads became difficult. Two-wheelers (motorcycles and scooters) parked on many roads of the city were seen being dragged into the stream of water, videos and photos of which later surfaced on social media. Financial loss due to water entering shops: Traders suffered the most loss due to heavy rain and waterlogging. Main markets were flooded, up to 3 feet deep, and many nearby shops were flooded. As the rain subsided late at night, traders and their employees found it difficult to drain water from their shops and save perishable goods. Traders say that they have to face this problem every year during the rainy season, causing economic losses worth lakhs. The shopkeepers demanded that the local administration should permanently repair the drainage system so that such a terrible situation does not happen again. The rains not only disrupted normal life but also disrupted a cultural program during the Dussehra fair. A day after Dussehra, a Dussehra fair was organized in Nathdwara. Heavy rain that started late at night created chaos among the people present at the fair. The stalls and temporary shops set up in the fair also suffered a lot of damage due to the rain. Organizers and stall owners had to quickly pack their belongings. Sudden rain spoiled the fun of the fair. Relief came late at night, but questions remain. The three-hour downpour stopped late at night, giving locals a sigh of relief. The water level gradually decreased and the local administration started to repair the drainage system.
