Unidentified man's body found floating in Merak Harbour

Jakarta – An unidentified body was found floating on Pier 3 of Merak Port, Banten. The body was successfully evacuated by the Banten Basarnas team. The body was first discovered by mooring officers this morning at 06.39 WIB. The ship’s officers then reported to the port and to the SAR team. “Chronology of the incident at 06.35 WIB, mooring officers witnessed the discovery of a body floating on pier 3,” said officer of Banten Search and Rescue Office Suwarsito on Thursday (23/10/2025). The body was then lifted to pier 2 in the evacuation process. “The Merak Alert Unit team went to the location to provide assistance and lift the body at pier 2,” he said. After being evacuated, the body was immediately taken to the Cilegon Regional Hospital for further treatment. The body is known to be male. When found, the victim was wearing pants and a gray shirt. The case where the body was found is still being investigated by the police. “The victim was successfully picked up and immediately evacuated to the Cilegon Regional Hospital,” he said. (deck/deck)
