Jakarta – Fighting between residents in Manggarai, Tebet, South Jakarta, broke out again this afternoon. Both groups of residents carried sharp weapons (sajam) and attacked each other with fireworks. Head of Public Relations for the South Jakarta Police, Commissioner Murodih, said the incident occurred this afternoon at 17:30 WIB. A fight broke out between residents of Gang Sawo and Gang Manggis. “At the beginning of the incident, the residents of Gang Manggis RW 07 (Phidonk) walked towards Gang Sawo RW 09, lit a knife and fire crackers and directed them towards the residents of Gang Sawo RW 09,” Murodih told reporters on Thursday (23/10/2025). The police immediately moved to the spot to break up the fight. Not long after, the brawlers broke up. “The fight lasted about 10 minutes, it was dispersed and traffic flow was flowing smoothly again,” he said. Murodih said that the situation at the place is currently favorable. However, the police are still on the scene to prevent another fight. “Until now, Tebet police personnel have been conducting foot patrols, patrolling from alley to alley in the Gang Manggis RW 07 and Gang Sawo RW 09 areas, South Manggarai,” he added.
