Thousands of hectares of standing crops are destroyed every year during the rainy season. Due to lack of proper drainage system, water does not come out of the pond for months. Recently, due to heavy rains in the first week of October, farmers of many villages of Kesariya and Sangramapur blocks suffered heavy losses. Thousands of hectares of standing crops were destroyed due to excessive water logging in the Chavar of Kesariya’s Lohargaon, Kushahr, Mahamadpur, Kesariya Nagar Panchayat, Bathna and Pradumna Chapra. Villagers say that such devastation is more man-made than natural causes. Generally Chavar water comes out through Raghava and Sumauti (rain river). But due to the formation of large obstacles in the path of the river, the flow of water slows down. As long as the water level in the fields is low, the crops are destroyed. Fencing for fishing is also done in the course of rainy rivers, creating obstructions in the flow of water. Due to lack of cleanliness, piles of mud formed in many places. Due to this, there is also obstruction in the drainage of water. The railway divided Chawar into two parts. People believe that this problem was also ignored in the construction of the Hajipur-Sugauli railway line. The entire Chanwar is divided into two parts due to the filling of land for the railway line. Two small culverts were constructed in Chanwar for the railway. If this bridge were bigger, the water would have drained faster. But now due to lack of water, a flood like situation has arisen. After the construction of the railway line, the natural path of water flow was blocked. Where earlier rainwater ran off easily, it now accumulated on both sides of the track. As a result, the fields turned into ponds. Impact on Rabi crop also: Due to prolonged stagnation of water in the fields, the cultivation of Rabi crop is also adversely affected. Let it be said that many times Rabi farming is not possible. Because water does not dry up in time, farmers cannot prepare the fields for the next harvest. In such a situation, crops like wheat and oilseeds cannot be grown. This time the situation is also similar. This situation is like a double blow for the farmers. By the time the water dries up in the field, the farming season will be over. This is a big problem for the farmers of this area. What people are saying: In this regard, farmers Mukesh Kumar, Vishuraj Singh, Ranjan Kumar, Rajdeep Kushwaha etc. said that stagnation of water in the fields for a long time is an old and big problem of this area. This time due to heavy rains in October, maize, paddy and vegetable crops were completely destroyed. As a result, the economic crisis in the area is deepening. The farmer cultivates every cent of his hard work with the hope that the harvest will be good. But this kind of situation broke the back of the farmers. The problem is that administrative officials and public representatives do not take this problem seriously. If there is no permanent solution to this problem, the problems of the farmers will not disappear.
