The Saudi Stock Exchange has incurred the biggest daily loss this year. What is the story?
The Saudi stock market has rejected the profits it has achieved since the beginning of the year, after the most important Saudi market index “Tassi” has had the biggest daily decline since the beginning of the year. This performance comes in the wake of a series of declines in global markets, raised by the increasing commercial escalation by US President Donald Trump with many countries and in the foreground and China. The index lost 1.6%. The biggest pressure on the market was the result of the decline in the shares of leadership companies, as the shares of Saudi Aramco fell 2.2% after the company announced its profit for 2024 by 12% compared to 2023, in addition to reducing their cash distributions in the last quarter by about three. Also read: Aramco’s annual profits fell by 12%. The company reduced the distributions in the last quarter by about a third, as the declines were shares of large listed companies, as Aqua Power share dropped by 5.7%, and Al -Rajhi Bank share is 1.4%, which contributed to the deepening of the market loss. The index broke down the medium supplies by closing “Tassi” at 11932 points, and the index has lost all its profits he has recorded since the beginning of 2025, as it has previously increased by 4%, but it now reflects a 0.9% decline since the beginning of the year. Ahmed Al -Rasheed, the first financial analyst of the newspaper “Al -iqtisadiah”, believes that this decline in the index represents the reaction of the market to the results of Aramco, which was expected without a bit, in addition to the financial distributions that maintained the stability of Aramco’s share in the market. He added: “It seems that the results of large companies in a total way cannot pay the market index, so we await the results of the rest of the businesses, especially the medium.” It has been pointed out that “almost two years ago is the medium and small businesses that led to the market rising when the performance of the large companies was not positive. Therefore, there can be a positive movement driven by the results of medium and small businesses, if they are better than expectations … and we have already noticed by the businesses that have announced their financial results.”
