Tahawwur Day: India has achieved great success in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. The conspirator of the attack Tahawwur Hussian Rana is now in the custody of NIA. The NIA Special Court ordered Rana to be sent to the custody of 18 days, where he is kept in a special lockup made in the NIA headquarters. A small, tight security room in the headquarters of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Delhi, has been the center of high-profile terrorism investigation in India for years. Under the supervision of CCTV and equipped with security personnel round the clock, this cell is just 14×14 feet.
This special cell of NIA is present on the ground floor of NIA Building in CGO complex, which has been converted into a fort since the arrival of Rana. Outside additional Delhi Police and paramilitary forces personnel have been deployed. No one is allowed to enter without approval, not even media personnel.
Rana’s closet has been installed several-layer digital security system. CCTV cameras are installed at every inch and only 12 NIA officers are allowed to enter. A bed is laid on the ground in his closet and has a bathroom inside the closet. Apart from this, all basic needs, drinking water, medical facilities will be delivered inside.
Patiala House Court Rana’s 18 -day custody
Rana, a 64 -year -old Pakistani -origin Canadian citizen, has been extradited from the US on Thursday. He was taken by a team of many senior officers of NIA to Delhi. A few hours later, he was produced before the Special NIA Court at Patiala House, where all non-essential personnel were thrown out of the court room during the hearing. Judge Chander Jeet Singh, who is presiding over the Special NIA Bench, detained the agency for 18 days. However, the NIA had sought a 20 -day remand from the court.
Rana appeared without any legal advisor
Rana, appearing without any legal advisor, was told by the judge that he will be provided legal assistance through the Delhi Legal Services Authority. After this, advocate Piyush Sachdeva was appointed to represent him.
