Maharashtra: CM Fadnavis told officials, speed up the Orange Gate-Marine Drive Twin Tunnel Project

Mumbai, April 12 (IANS) Maharashtra Head Minister Devendra Fadnavis Friday asked the Mumbai Metropolitan Area Development Authority (MMRDA) and other agencies to speed up the work of the Orange Gate-Marine Drive Twin Tunnel Project. The purpose of this project is to reduce traffic congestion in South Mumbai. CM Fadnavis said: “In response to raising traffic issues in Mumbai, the government is giving precedence to the development of infrastructure projects. Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) develops a twin wagon tunnel between Orange Gate and Marine Drive to help reduce the crowd in South.” At the meeting, the Chief Minister instructed the MMRDA and other agencies to expedite the project with proper coordination and complete it in time through a time -consisting plan. CM Fadnavis has described it as an ambitious project that will give a new dimension to the transport infrastructure of South Mumbai, which promotes the city’s economic and geographical development. He said the project should be completed by December 2028, which will save time and costs for passengers. He said the tunnel project is important to reduce the crowd and provide an uninterrupted connection between Eastern Freeway and Atal Setu. Early functions such as Tunnel Boring, Land Acquisition and Pile Foundation are currently underway. A revised technical proposal was also set up in consultation with the traffic department. He ordered that the necessary improvements to SV Patel Road and Marine -drive should be made according to the plan. He said that when the tunnel is completed, there will be a decrease in traffic congestion and pollution in South Mumbai, and that urban transport will get a direction. -Ians SCH/DSC shares this story tags
