Glen Powell is the “Perfect” Actor for ‘The Running Man,’ Says Edgar Wright

Before Glen Powell took on the lead role as Ben Richards in The Running ManAnother Iconic movie star tried his hand at the Stephen King Adaptation. In 1987, Arnold Schwarzenegger starred in an adaptation directed by Paul Michael Glaser, making a decent chunk of change at the box office, although it was given mixed critic reviews. Since then, it’s become a cult classic for fans of the actor, who infamously wore a vibrant yellow suit during the film. But now, powell will be making the role his own, and Wright see his casting as a subversive move.

Edgar Wright Felt Like Powell was the perfect fit for the upcoming movie, which he thought best suited an actor who had not delved into the genre before. In a way, this makes his character more relatable, as audiences won not immediately see him as an infallible, but instead a realistic character try to get out of an insane situation. Yes, powell is slowly making his way up to movie stardom, but The Running Man is a project unlike anything he’s done before. Wright’s Words:

“I felt it was important to see somebody who had not really done something like this before. It’s similar to bruce Willis, when he was still the guy from moonlighing, before he did the hard, where that adds to the suspension.” Can they make it? “
