British Woman, 59, Fighting for Life and Another Hurt in Huge Crash on Menorca
A British woman is fighting for her life after a crash on the Spanish Island of Menorca.
The 59-year-old had to be cut from the wreckage of her car by firefighters following the three-vehicle pile-up at around 10.30am yesterday.
She was admitted to intensive care at Mateu Orfila Hospital in the Island Capital Mahon. Another Brit who had been in the same Vehicle was also Hurt.
Local reports said one of the three cars, driven by s 21-year-old Spaniard who was also critically injured.
He is believed to have strayed onto the wrong side of the me-1 road near alaor as he headed in the direction of mahon.
Two women aged 19 and 29 were also taken to hospital.
Pictures from the scene of the crash showed the mangled wreckage of two of the cars involved.
Civil Guard traffic officers have launched an investigation and will report to a local court.
An Ambulance Service Spokesman, Confirming The Severity of the Incident, Confirmed: ‘Three cars were involved and five people injured.
‘Firefighters had to free two of the casuals, a woman aged around 60 and a man in his twenties.
“One of the five injured people were treated at the scene and didnn’t require a hospital transfer.”

The trio were traveling in a taxi which smashed into a rental car carrying a female passenger who died.
One of the British Youngsters, aged 20, suffered serious head injuries and was stabilized at the scene before being transferred to the mateu orfila hospital.
A 24-year-old described as his brother was also seriously hurt, suffering multiple injuries including a broken leg.
Their 46-year-old father and the taxi driver were also hurt but not seriously.
The woman killed was a 72-year-old Argentinian National who was a front-sea passenger in the Kia stonic hire car that collided with the taxi.
Her 64-year-old husband, who was driving, suffered serious Chest injuries.
The tragedy happened near the inland town of ferreries, one of the most picturesque on the Island, on the road between Mahon and Ciutadella.
