Hysterics Over Man’s Way of Knowing He’s the ‘Spare Human’ to His 3 Dogs – ryan

A dog owner has left the internet in stitches by revealing how he knows he’s only the spare human in his household.

In a TikTok video posted by user @sadiethesableshepherd, the three dogs can be seen fast asleep, with two on the sofa and one lounging on the floor. As their male owner tries to wake them up, he asks if they want to go outside or want a treat—but nothing works.

It seems as though nothing could wake the three large dogs from their slumber. But then, the owner says the two magic words: “Momma’s home.”

He doesn’t say that phrase any differently or any louder, and yet it’s still enough to wake all three dogs up simultaneously. They immediately get up from their sleeping positions and head towards the door to see if their favorite human is actually home.

The hilarious video of “spare human life” was shared on TikTok on March 27, and it’s since gone viral with over 1.7 million views and 187,500 likes at the time of writing.

Newsweek has contacted @sadiethesableshepherd via TikTok for comment.

After seeing the two German shepherds and the Great Pyrenees dog immediately wake up when they think their mom has returned, their male owner was somewhat unsurprised. He can be heard in the video saying, “of course,” when the pups just disregard him.

Although dogs can’t tell us who their favorite person is, it can sometimes be glaringly obvious. Indeed, the American Kennel Club (AKC) explains that they will often learn who is the dutiful parent who gives them food and lets them break the rules, and which one is more likely to drag them out for walks in the rain and say no to treats.

As previously reported by Newsweekthere are many signs that show whether you are your dog’s favorite human or not. Those include when they want to be near you, eye contact, rubbing their face on yours, affection, wanting to sleep near you, and when they are relaxed around you.

If you find that you’re the spare human in your home, there’s no need for concern. It’s still possible to change that, as the AKC recommends winning the dog over with the three A’s: affection, attention, and positive associations.

The TikTok Reaction

Since the video was posted in March, internet users have lauded the trio of dogs for not shying away from who their favorite is. This has led to more than 1,100 comments on the viral post so far, as plenty of people could relate to the peril of being the spare human too.

One comment on the post reads: “Synchronized betrayal hits different.”

Another TikTok user wrote: “As a fellow spare human, I felt that fully. It no longer hurts, but sometimes it does.”

Another person joked: “At least they weren’t too obvious.”

While one commenter added: “Momma better be there, or you’re in trouble.”
