Soccer-Athleticos Sorloth grabs all four goals and sets record in Sociedad
(Add details) Madrid, May 10 (Reuters) -Atletico Madrid striker Alexander Sorloth scored four goals within 30 minutes, including the fastest hat-trick in Laliga history, in a 4-0 home win over Real Sociedad Saturday. The Norwegian forward completed his disside in the openings 11 minutes, the earliest in the competition, before adding a fourth goal to seal the route on the half hour. Atletico, who is out of the title race, sits third at 70 points, nine emerging leaders Barcelona and five behind Real Madrid who will face a possible title decision on Sunday. Real Sociedad has not won any of their last five league games and is the 12th with 43 points. Atletico, who was held at a 0-0 draw last weekend, took the lead last weekend, took the lead after seven minutes when Sorloth scored after a long pass by Pablo Barrios. The 29-year-old man doubled the benefit three minutes later with a strike of the edge of the box in the bottom corner. He got the record -breaking third place a little over 60 seconds later with a close attempt at the roof of the net. Sorloth’s hat-trick was four minutes faster than in 1941 by Edmundo Suarez and Carles Bestit’s in 1929. However, the striker did not stop there and made it 4-0 when he received the ball of Javi Galan at the edge of the box and stopped to control it before he went home. Sorloth became Athletico’s leading scorer in Laliga this season with 17 goals, two more than in-shape shooter Julian Alvarez suspended. The Norwegian previously scored four goals in a match in May last year, which helped the former team of Villarreal to keep the champions Real Madrid to a 4-4 draw when it took him 56 minutes. Sorloth also hit the beam up near the penalty early in the second half, while Atletico continued to dominate, with Sociedad now not scoring in three straight league games.
