Vodafone IDEA (VI) officially introduced its 5G services in the Delhi National Capital Region (NCR), which was an important step in the phased-out strategy of the telecommunications provider. The company announced the development on Wednesday, saying that the National Capital is now part of the expanding high-speed network footprint. The launch of Delhi-NCR follows previous 5G activations in Mumbai, Chandigarh and Patna, while VI pushes forward with its broader 5g deployment plan. The company intends to perform 5G services in all 17 major priority circles where it will be spectrum by August this year. “It’s an important milestone in our 5G trip,” a VI spokesman said. “Delhi-NCR joins a growing list of cities that benefit from our leading network, with Bengaluru and Mysuru under the following in the line.” VI’s ambitious £ 55,000 Crore Capital Outers Program over three years supports the nationwide 5G launch. The initiative reflects the company’s commitment to upgrading digital infrastructure and improving connectivity in the urban hubs of India. As part of its launch offer, VI UNLIMITED 5G data offers customer with compatible devices, available on plans from £ 299. This promotional offer is expected to increase the adoption of users as more regions come online in the coming months. The launch in Delhi-NCR is performed especially in collaboration with Swedish telecommunications giant Ericsson. The partnership has led to the deployment of the next generation 5G infrastructure known for its improved energy efficiency and lighter, more compact hardware. In addition, VI also implemented AI -powered self -organizing network (SON) technology to optimize performance and cover dynamically. The network works on a 5G non-standard (NSA) architecture, enabling smooth interoperability between existing 4G networks and the new 5G layer. With network deployment already underway at various other strategic locations, VI’s 5G expansion is expected to gain further momentum throughout the year. (With input from PTI)
