Mayank Yadav's injury rewarded BCCI and NCA, injured stormy fast bowler for the third time in a few days

Cricket News Desk. The BCCI’s ‘Center of Excellence’ (formerly NCA) was embarrassed when the fastest bowler of India, Mayank Yadav, had to be from the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League, ie IPL 2025 due to a back injury. The IPL media statement said that Mayank Yadav sustained a back injury and that he was outside the remaining session. William O’Rurke of New Zealand will replace him with Lucknow Super Giants for the remaining tournament. Mayank Yadav, who returned to the NCA after six months of rehabilitation, conceded 100 runs in eight overs in two games and took only two wickets. Its velocity was reduced to at least 15 km per hour and its bowling action has also changed. For records, Mayank played nine T20 matches between 30 March 2024 and 4 May 2025, which is exactly 13 months and four days. Out of these nine games, he played four T20 matches for Lucknow last year when he bowled at a speed of 150 km per hour. However, he had his first illness in April that year and he stayed out of the game for six months. Next, Ajit Agarkar and Gautam Gambhir included him in the Twenty20 International Team in India for the Bangladesh series. At the end of the series, his back injury emerged again and could be out of the entire domestic season due to rehabilitation in the NCA and the newly formed COE. A power and conditioning coach, who worked in the NCA, told PTI on condition of anonymity, “Now that Nitin Patel has gone, you do not know who should be asked about Mayank’s rehabilitation.” The second question to ask is whether they got a ‘suitable’ certificate ahead of time, without her back injury to appear in two games again? There is still much to do in rehabilitation of Mayank Yadav and Umran Malik’s injury. “Mayank is only 22 years old and has many years left in cricket, but this series of injuries will end the confidence in the selection committee. He has a contract from the BCCI fast bowler and is under the board over the past year, but he may need to consult foreign experts due to regular injuries, but COE has objected.” Share this story -tags
