The judge himself had to intervene to give the 13 -year -old rape victim in Kotoputli, Rajasthan, justice. The doctors refused to abortion from an underage girl who was pregnant after rape. While his family has also completed all the formalities. Pawan Jinwal, secretary, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Jaipur, had to intervene in this case. In fact, the accused raped the minor girl and then the victim became pregnant. A case is registered under the Poxo Act. The pregnancy was about 12 weeks and the victim and her family wanted to undergo abortion. The District Legal Services Authority took the matter seriously. For immediate help, Secretary Pawan Jinwal himself contacted the victim and her family members and gave them legal aid. The family gave written consent. The victim was taken to BDM BDM District Hospital after receiving written consent from family members and completing all legal formalities. The doctors then refused to abortion, referring to legal ambiguity. Although the medical termination of the Pregnancy Act (MTP) 2003 and the Supreme Court allowed up to 24 weeks of abortion to abortion, the doctors continued to ask for a copy of the Supreme Court order. The judge reprimanded the doctors. When the case came under the notice of Judge Pawan Jeanwal, he reached the hospital on Wednesday (May 14) and tackled the situation. The doctors were made aware of the clear legal status and rebuked. Only then did the doctors act and ensure the safe abortion of the victim. Adj Pawan Jinwal told NDTV that the victim will soon be provided financial aid under the ‘victim compensation scheme’. He said that in such cases medical and legal systems should work with sensitivity and quickly. So that the victim does not have to carry extra mental torture. Share this story -tags
