Rispolis Wild Ride aboard journalism makes him the first Italian Jockey to win a triple crown race
Baltimore (AP) – Umberto Rispoli has taken quite a way to make history. Rispoli became the first Jockey from Italy to win a triple crown race on Saturday, which pushed between horses around the top of the stretch and then rode journalism to a tremendous rally in the series of Preakness. Rispoli’s Colt was the favorite for an even money, but it was no easy trip. He kept journalism near the track, which saved the land, but forced him to slip again between purposeful and smartly, as he could even start running with a 15-1 shot Gosger. “I got in trouble during the quarter, and look, he keeps going on,” said Rispoli, who came from Italy in 2020. “It’s all about him. It is a privilege to ride a horse like him. ” The victory of journalism brought to mind the victory of Alex in the same race 20 years ago when the horse and Jockey Jeremy Rose almost went off when they were cut off by another horse at the top of the piece. The anxious moment of journalism was in the same place on Pimlico, and although he did not stumble the way Afee Alex did, he had to deal with horses on both sides of him. “Jeremy Rose almost fell off the horse. It was probably the most spectacular Preakness I have ever seen,” Rispoli said. “But even what we saw today. This horse that returned from a difficult trip in the (Kentucky) Derby after two weeks … It was an incredible effort. I wish I would have given him a softer race, but it’s part of horse racing. ” After working through traffic, there was still the case to catch Gosger. “On the 16th pole I say ok, I think I’ll be late, but probably on time,” Rispoli said. With one last boom, journalism continued and won by half length. “When I cross the line, it’s been 20 years of my career passing before me,” Rispoli said. “I had to wait so long to ride such a champion.” Journalism acquitted himself well in second place in the Kentucky Derby, and when Derby winner Sovereignity skipped the Preakness, journalism was the clear favorite. However, he will have to win from behind. Rispoli has credited Hall of Fame Jockey Jerry Bailey with the advice to save land in this race. “Umberto, all credit to him, he chose to save land. That’s what it takes to win these races like this, ‘said coach Michael McCarthy. “Obviously, he was a bit of a bit of a problem for six or eight jumps. Thankful that he and the horse came out of it intact. This is the most important thing, winning, losing or pulling. ‘ When Rispoli was asked about the first Jockey from Italy with a triple crown victory, there was shouting of “Viva Italia!” before he replies. He said his idol was the top -Italian Jockey Frankie Dettori, who was expected to retire at the end of 2023, but continued. “I think you have to drive a few more years to get one of the winners of the Triple Crown to make me equal,” Rispoli said. “It’s even difficult to describe the feeling when crossing the thread in those breeds. You just dream about it. ‘ ___
