Safety Link in Kanyakumari after the attack in Pahalgam, extensive arrangements to ensure the safety of tourists
Kanyakumari, April 23 (IANS). The recent terror attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir has shaken the entire country. Terrorists have targeted tourists in this attack, after which the central and state governments have decided to further strengthen the security system on major tourist spots across the country. Kanyakumari, the popular international tourist destination in Tamil Nadu, has also implemented extensive security measures to ensure the safety of tourists and residents. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has instructed all states to increase safety on tourist places, overcrowded areas and important places. In Kanyakumari, police and security forces have increased vigilance with immediate effect, which is world-renowned for its natural beauty, sunrise solar and historical importance. A thorough investigation was started by people visiting the beach roads, bootghats and major tourist places. Along with the search of tourists’ goods, identity cards are also being investigated. Police have patrolled in large places such as Sunset Point, Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Thiruvalluvar statue. Along with the deployment of policemen in ordinary uniforms in the beach areas, the presence of armed forces was also ensured. In addition, security arrangements have also been strengthened at Kanyakumari bus stalls, railway stations and other places. Along with increasing the monitoring of CCTV cameras, additional cameras are also installed, so that any suspicious activity can be acted immediately. Kanyakumari police have investigated visitors and their belongings visiting the Beach Road and Boat Ghat. Police have requested the people to inform the police station of any suspicious person or activity. Similar safety measures were implemented at bus stations and railway stations of the area to ensure the safety of the people.
