Kemenbud and Parliament discuss the urgency of recycling Indonesian history

Jakarta – Minister of Culture (Menbud), Fadli Zon today attended a work meeting with the House of Representatives Commission X. Fadli revealed that the writing of Indonesian history is planned to consist of 10 volumes, which contain: Early history of the archipelago; Nucantara in the global network: India and China; Nusantara in the Global Network: Middle East; Interaction with the West: Competence and Alliance; Response to colonialism; National movement; The Indonesian war of independence during the turmoil and threat of integration; New Order (1967-1998); and the Reformation era (1999-2024). “We cannot write history in detail, and the content of this book is only an explanation. Because this history contains many fields, the content of this book cannot of course cover in detail, but what we want to start, namely the perspective of Indonesia or Indonesia,” he said. According to Fadli Zon, Indonesia is absent in writing the country’s history for about 26 years. He also said that when the writing process reached 70%, a discussion session would be opened by involving various experts as part of the public test.
