Woman Wonders Why Labrador Is Sleeping on Floor, Then She Looks in Her Bed – ryan

A woman captured the heartwarming moment she walked into her room to find her dog sleeping on the floor—having seemingly given up her bed for a pile of beloved soft toys—a scene that has melted thousands of hearts online.

Racking up more than 311,000 views, the footage shows Doris, the golden Labrador, snoozing while her soft toys rest on her pink fluffy bed.

The text layered over the clip refers to her as a “sweet soul,” saying she “would rather give her bed to her teddies than move them.”

She then moves to the side, and Doris gets on the bed. This heartwarming scene has gathered 56,700 likes (@doristhegoldenlab).

Why Do Dogs Like Soft Toys?

According to the American Kennel Club, many dogs are naturally drawn to soft plush toys because they simulate prey—especially when they squeak or can be torn apart. This kind of play can be deeply satisfying for dogs, particularly those that enjoy the thrill of the chase or “killing” their toy.

However, soft toys should always be used with supervision, especially if your dog tends to destroy them. Ingesting parts like squeakers can lead to serious health issues that might require surgery. For safety and longevity, these toys should be “play with me only,” meaning your dog should have access to them only during interactive play sessions and not when left alone.

Soft plush toys can also be helpful for engaging calmer or less playful dogs, especially if you make the toy act like prey by dragging it along the ground or keeping it just out of reach. This can spark interest even in dogs that don’t usually show much enthusiasm for toys.

Toy preferences can change as dogs age. While puppies often love rubbery chew toys, older or senior dogs may prefer softer toys that are easier to hold and tug. Even timid or less confident dogs may respond well to soft or furry toys when introduced gently and playfully.
