7 Engineers suspended on 'Faulty Design' by Bridge in Madhya Pradesh: Here's what went wrong | Today news

The Madhya Pradesh government suspended seven public works (PWD) engineers on Saturday and began a departmental investigation against a retired superintendent engineer about the ‘incorrect design’ of a new rail bridge (ROB) in Bhopal with an unusual 90-degree turn. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that he had taken note of the serious negligence in the construction of Aishbagh Rob and an investigation. “Based on the investigation report, eight PWD engineers have taken action,” Yadav said. Error in the bridge is criticized by the newly built Rob in the city’s Aishbagh area by locals and Netizens and ridiculed for designing it and wondering how vehicles manage to take the sharp 90-degree turn. Last week, the PWD formed a committee to find a solution to ensure safe movement of vehicles on the bridge. The project, which cost about £ 18, was built to benefit three Lakh people. That would have improved the connection between Mahamai Ka Bagh, Pushpa Nagar and the station area with New Bhopal, Pti reports. The shortage of land caused the faulty design after a negative turn in events, the officials responsible for construction, argued that they had no choice but to build the bridge in this way, given the shortage of land and the presence of a subway train station in the environment. If a little extra ground is made available, the sharp turn of 90 degrees can be turned into a curve, officials said. Who are the suspended engineers? Seven engineers, including two main engineers, were immediately suspended, while a departmental investigation will be conducted against a retired superintendent engineer, he said. The suspended engineers include: Sanjay Khande and GP Verma (Chief Engineer) Javed Shakeeel and Shabana Rajjaq (Executive Engineer) Ravi Shukla (In-Charge Sub-Division) Umashankar Mishra (sub-engineer) Shanul Saxena (Assistant Engineer), an additional head of the retired Superintendent engineer, dated PW, dated PW, Done Secretary Negreaj Mandloi. The government also listed the construction agency and design consultant on the Blacklist action against the PWD staff on the blacklist. To resolve the situation, an additional committee was established to make the necessary improvements in the Bridge (ROB), chief minister Mohan Yadav said in a post on X. “The Rob will only be inaugurated after improvements have been made,” the chief minister added. The government also blacklisted the architect firm m/s Puneet Chaddha and the dynamic consultant M/S on the blacklist, the news agency reported.
