Accident: 7-year-old child's leg crushed, mother alleges willful negligence
Mumbai, October 23 (IANS). A tragic accident took place in a residential complex in the Malad area of Mumbai, where a car ran over the feet of a 7-year-old innocent child. The child’s mother accused him of crushing his feet on purpose. The entire incident took place on the premises of Interface Heights Society on October 19 at around 17:30, which was captured in the CCTV footage of the building. The child sustained serious injuries and is admitted to a nearby hospital. The police have registered an FIR against the woman car driver under sections 281 (negligent driving) and 125(B) (causing hurt) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) as well as relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act. A notice was issued to the accused woman and the vehicle was seized. The injured child Anvay Majumdar was playing with other children in the society. Meanwhile, the car driven by Sweta Shetty Rathod, wife of the society secretary, crushed his leg. The child was sitting on the ground and many children were playing nearby, but the driver moved the vehicle forward without reducing the speed. Immediately after the accident, Anvay screamed loudly and became drenched in blood. Other residents of the society immediately rushed the child to the hospital, where doctors confirmed a serious fracture in his leg. The child’s condition is currently said to be stable, but it will take time to fully recover. The child’s mother, Mahua Majumdar, lodged a complaint at the Bangur Nagar police station on October 20, the next day of the incident. He told that his younger son informed through intercom that Anvay’s leg was crushed. Mahua claimed the car drove over the child’s leg on purpose. The complaint states that Sweta knew that the children were playing, but she drove the car at high speed. He said, “She knew that my son was sitting on the ground but crushed her without caring. After the accident, she did not make a single call to inquire about the health of the child.” The police examined the CCTV footage, in which negligence is clearly visible. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, Bangur Nagar police acted swiftly. The senior officer said the accused has been summoned for questioning and the process of challan is on. –IANS SCH/ABM Share this story Tags
