HERALD HOUSE CASE: ED has given notice to the conflicting of Associated Journal of Properties
New -delhi, April 12 (IANS). The Directorate for Enforcement (ED) who investigated money laundering in the Herald House case began the attachment to assets worth Rs 661 Crore of Associated Journal Limited (AJL). The Ed issued notices on Friday to seize AJL’s Delhi, Mumbai and Lucknow Properties. The agency’s press release states that the total value of these assets is Rs 661 crore. A copy of the notice was also placed on these properties. In addition, Jindal South West Projects Limited, located on the seventh, eighth and ninth floor of Herald House in Mumbai, was ordered to be deposited with the ED director of the monthly rent/lease. The Herald house is owned by AJL. In this case, the names of Rajya Sabha MP Sonia Gandhi and leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi are named after many congressional leaders. This includes Suman Dubey, Sam Pitroda and a private company Young India. Among the other accused, Motilal Vohra and Oscar Fernandes no longer live. Young India is owned by Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi. It is alleged that Young India AJL’s assets worth Rs 2,000 crore bought for just Rs 50 crore, which is much less than their real value. The ED started investigating the case in 2021 and found that AJL’s criminal income is Rs 988 crore. For its recovery, he temporarily attached his properties worth Rs 661 Crore on November 20, 2023, which was later confirmed on April 10, 2024.
