The Sharda River usually remains every rain. In such a situation, the Pantoon bridge is removed every year in June. As a result, 7-8 months, the residents of Sharda crosses of the district headquarters are isolated. For a long time, they have to travel a few kilometers more via Palia Town to get to the district and Tehsil headquarters or cross the Sharda River by boat. This year, the Pantoon bridge that should have been built in October was smooth in January. In such a situation, people received the benefit of the facility of this bridge for only 5 months. This is why the locals have long been demanding a permanent bridge over the Sharda River. Recently, on the recommendation of the local public representative, a budget of Rs 269.13 crore was approved for the erection of a bridge about 3.3 km long and 7 meters wide on the Sharda River. But a total of 360 trees must be cut for the construction of permanent bridge, of which 249 Pilibhit Tiger Reserve and 101 trees are from Dudhwa National Park. The noc of the forest division is needed for the erection of the bridge. There is a dispute over cutting Tiger Reserve trees. This is why there is a cold between government institutions regarding the whole case. According to departmental sources, there is no possibility of getting NOC at the moment.
