Chia seeds have become a staple in health-conscious diets worldwide, and now an aiims-trained gastroenterologist explains why. In a recent video, Dr Saurabh Sethi, who also trained at Harvard and Stanford universities, broke down the science behind the small but nutritional-packed seeds and what happens if you eat them regularly for 14 days. According to Dr Sethi, chia seeds are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, protein, calcium, magnesium and antioxidants-which make them a power station of nutrition. “Only two tablespoons contain about 10 grams of fiber, which is nearly 30 to 40 percent of your daily requirement,” he explained. “This fiber supports bowel health by feeding the good gut bacteria.” What makes chia seeds unique is their ability to take up to 12 times their weight in water and form a living consistency. It slows down the digestion, helps you feel full longer and can stabilize blood sugar levels. According to Dr. Sethi is also regular consumption linked to improved cholesterol levels and better heart health. For best results, he recommends that you drive two tablespoons of chia -seeds in water, milk or yogurt overnight. “Yogurt is the best option,” he notes and adds that the week chia seeds make easier to digest and reduce the risk of choking. However, he warned that those who are prone to bloating or irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) to start with smaller quantities and gradually increase. Dr Sethi, who shares evidence -based health tips on social media, also opened his personal transformation. In another video, he revealed that he had lost 30 pounds (about 13.6 kg) by focusing on his bowel health rather than restrictive diets or intense workouts. “I tried everything for years – different diets, long cardio sessions and strict meal plans – but nothing lasted,” he said. “It was only in my Gi and Hepatology Society that I realized that I was missing the most important piece: the bowels.” After focusing on improving bowel health, he said everything changed. The results were striking-he not only dumped weight, but also reversed fatty liver, moved out of pre-diabetes and experienced better sleep, energy and focus. Dr Sethi’s advice reinforces an increasing awareness that bowel health plays an important role in general well-being and that small, consistent habits, such as adding chia seeds to your daily diet, can hold long-term benefits.
