AIMIM leader's statement on Shaniwarwada Namaz controversy - 'Conspiracy to divert attention from the scam'

Pune, October 21 (IANS). AIMIM state president and MP Imtiaz Jaleel targeted the BJP over the controversy over Namaz in Shaniwarwada, Pune. He said that a case of a scam worth Rs 300 crore is going on against a big leader in Pune, and the issue of Namaz has been raised to divert attention from this controversy. AIMIM leader Imtiaz Jaleel alleged that Pune’s Rajya Sabha MP Medha Kulkarni had deliberately stoked the controversy. He said that the Dargah present in Shaniwarwada is very old and even people above 60 years old confirm its historical presence. Imtiaz Jalil also said that society should learn from the women who offered namaz for two minutes. “If burqa-wearing women offer Namaz for two minutes, what is the crime in that?” He accused the police of filing a case against these women under pressure, which is unfortunate. Imtiaz Jalil further said that the history of Shaniwarwada is related to Peshwas and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and Shivaji Maharaj never had any objection against Muslims, so who are these people of today who are trying to spread hatred in the society? He said that there is a Dargah in Shaniwarwada for many years. It is absolutely wrong to make such a noise suddenly. The AIMIM leader said that the women offered Namaz only for two minutes, which was not a wrong thing. The police also came under pressure and filed an FIR against those women, which is a shameful thing. AIMIM said that he had said that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had no enmity towards Muslims. Now some people are targeting Muslims by taking his name. –IANS MS/DKP Share this story Tags
