'Aircraft landed safely': windshield of indigo -aircraft cracks before the arrival in Chennai
A crack in the windshield of an indigo aircraft carrying 76 Madurai passengers was spotted by the pilot on Saturday before landing at the airport, reports Pti quoting the authorities. The pilot observed a crack in the windshield and notified the air traffic controller at the airport. At the receipt of the information, arrangements were made at the airport, and the aircraft landed successfully, the authorities noted. The plane was moved to another Bay (Bay No. 95) for parking, and passengers left safely. Currently, arrangements are underway to replace the windshield, they added. The cause of the incident is not yet known. The flight’s return to Madurai was canceled due to the incident, the authorities said. Meanwhile, Indigo told PTI that the aircraft was based for ‘maintenance requirement’ and that he did not mention the cracks in the windshield. “An interview requirement was noted at Indigo Flight 6E 7253, who worked from Madurai to Chennai on October 10, 2025 before landing at his destination,” a spokeswoman for the Indigo told the news agency. “After standard industry procedures, the plane ended up safely in Chennai and will only resume after the necessary checks and cleanups,” the spokesman added. DGCA sets up £ 20 Lakh fine. The latest incident comes days after the Directorate -General of the Avry Regulator of Civil Aviation (DGCA) fined the Indigo £ 20 Lakh for certain alleged dilapidated in pilot training. Indigo was notified by the DGCA on September 26, as the airline was notified in its regulatory filing on Wednesday. The fine has been imposed for “alleged failure to use qualified simulators for pilot training at category C aviation,” the filing said. The airline said it is currently challenging this order with the relevant appeal industry. “The delay in the disclosure was unintentional and caused as a result of a delay in the internal communication of details regarding the order,” Indigo said.
