Delhi police arrest second in CM Relha Gupta attack case, Tahseen Syed is arrested

Delhi police have arrested another accused in connection with the recent attack on Chief Minister Velha Gupta, officials told Ani. It is alleged that the arrested accused, identified as Tahseen Syed, transferred money to the first accused, Rajesh Khimji, who carried out the attack on Delhi’s chief minister. Prior to the arrest, Tahseen was detained by Delhi police in the Gujarat Rajkot. “Delhi police have arrested a car driver from Rajkot, Gujarat, who is a friend of the accused Rajesh. He allegedly transferred money to Rajesh,” Delhi police said. On August 20, Delhi Chief Minister Velha Gupta was attacked by a Rajkot resident, Rajesh Khimji, in her civilian lines during Jan Sunvai. The accused was subsequently arrested and sent to a five-day police custody, and further investigation was underway. Meanwhile, Delhi police have strengthened his investigation into the attack on Chief Minister Gupta, with investigators now seeking dumping of data from both her personal and official residences. Officials said the move aims to compile a clear picture of accused Rajesh Khimji’s presence and movements before and during the incident. According to senior police sources, Dump data – which provides details on mobile tower locations, device signals and call records of all numbers active in a specific area – is detected from the telecommunications service providers for specific time windows. Investigators analyze whether Rajesh Khimji was present in the area alone, or that other suspicious devices and individuals were active at the same time. According to police, the data will be crucial in reconstruction of the order of events that led to the attack and to determine whether the accused had any support or acted independently. Along with electronic supervision, several CCTV cameras around both CM’s residences are also investigated in detail. Police teams also verify security logs, visitor entries and deployment records to identify possible dilapidated, while monitoring Rajesh Khimji’s interrogation input with technical evidence. Officials said confirming these findings will help them determine whether exploration was carried out before the incident and that more people were involved, according to the news release by Ani.
