Alipov praised Russia's important role in the Indian space program

New -delhi, April 12 (IANS). Russian ambassador to India Dennis Alipov set out the important role of Russia in the Indian space program on Saturday on the occasion of ‘Cosmonotics Day’. He said that the Soviet Union and Russia had a leadership role in spatial discoveries and that India also gained its direct benefit. On this occasion, a memorial was devoted to the founders of the Russia’s space program, Scientific Concentrin Tsiolkovski, spacecraft designer Sergei Korolev and first astronaut Yuri Gagarin in the Russian Cultural Center ‘Russian House’ in New Delhi. Alipov participated in the event and discussed in his speech in detail about the Indian and Russian spaces collaboration. Ambassador Alipov specifically called the flight of the first Indian astronaut Rakesh Sharma in the Soviet spacecraft in 1984. He said this flight is a symbol of a strong space cooperation between India and Russia. He also informed that there are many large joint projects in spatial research between the two countries today. On this occasion, Elena Remizova, head of the Russia’s Office of Space Agency, India, the Russian astronaut and ‘Hero of the Russian Federation’ Dennis Matveev and Isro officer Rajiv Kumar Jaiswal are also present. The program also contains the Russian film ‘Challenge’, the first film in history shot in space. In addition, astronaut Dennis Matveev shared his experiences of work in zero gravity and also discussed the importance of international cooperation.
