Cotton farmers of Sirsa have the price cuts in mills, the auction stopped

The tensions in Sirsa increased on Monday when cotton farmers stopped the purchase and shouted slogans against the Ginning Mill owners and the government. He accused them of paying their crop less. The protest march began on the first day of Navratri in the new cotton market when more than 150 tractor tractors arrived with Fresh Cotton (Narma) and the mill owners started the first purchases. The farmers stopped as soon as the auction began. They claimed that the Mill owners showed a purchase rate of Rs 6,000 to 7,000 per quintal in the Mandi, but later reduced the mills between 500 to 1,000 rupees per quintal during weighing and processing. The farmers demanded that the payment be made against the market rates. He warned that they would not accept the cuts at the mill level. Prem Bajaj, leader of the farmer, Lakhwinder Singh Aulakh and the president of the Aadhati Union, reached the place and tried to mediate. After ensuring SDM, the auction was postponed about three hours and then began. This protest also highlighted a more long -standing issue between the adults and the mill owners over the delay in payment due to the approval of the tax on goods and services (GST). The agents say they pay the farmers immediately, but the mill owners delay the payment by 45 days in the payment by calling the GST process. He argues that it gives great economic pressure on commission agents. In a meeting held at the office of the Market Committee, it was decided that there would be a joint discussion in the mediation of SDM on Wednesday. The meeting is expected to discuss both price disputes and delays associated with GST, which are expected to find a permanent solution. Share this story -tags
