American Company sets off the majority of Indian workforce in a 3 -minute call, the trial of employee shares
A Reddit post by an Indian employee has become viral for emphasizing the sudden and impersonal way in which mass dismissal is handled by global enterprises. The user, who worked remotely for a US firm, described how October 1 started like any other day until an unexpected calendar invitation appeared for a mandatory meeting with the company’s chief operating officer (COO). According to the Post, the COO joined the call at 11:01 p.m., the cameras and microphones of disabled employees and within three minutes announced that ‘most of their Indian workforce’ be discharged due to ‘internal organizational restructuring’. He made it clear that the decision was not on performance -based, but that no questions were allowed. The call ended at 11:04 p.m. When the employee checked their inbox, the discharge -E -mail had already arrived -confirming that October 1 would be their last working day. Employees are told that they would receive one month’s salary and the unused leaves as part of the separations. “This is the first time I’ve been fired, and it really sucks,” the employee wrote and shocked the lack of notice or empathy. The sudden announcement, with no time to prepare, made many people “shocked, stunned, frustrated and stressed”. The employee later updated the post and addressed the skepticism of some Reddit users. “If you are rude or call this post false simply because I didn’t mention the company, I’m just not going to deal with each other … learn how to talk to people, especially if they are inundated with one of their top three worst days.” While the company’s name was not disclosed in the mail in the mail, the individual said they shared it privately with those who politely asked. Several users also offered assistance and working guidance in the comments. The Post has elicited discussions online about the growing trend of mass dismissal conducted via short video calls or email, which raises concerns about corporate culture, dignity of employees and the mental health impact of sudden work losses. A user shared: ‘Sorry to hear that. I can understand how you should feel. I was discharged a few years ago and I was destroyed for months. I just understand that this is not your fault, and almost everyone is fired at least once in their careers. It took me a few months to get back on my feet, but I got a job I love now. “Another user wrote:” It’s just sad. On, you deserve a workplace where you are valued and respected and I hope you can have a better opportunity soon! ” The third user wrote: “Sorry my husband … Try not to think about it. And as the line goes, it’s definitely not you … it’s them! Kin-up, smile and move forward and upwards. All the best!”
